Spanish Program Overview

The Isaac Newtown Spanish School offers short-term language immersion courses for international students.  The courses are offered 100% in Spanish with a focus on developing intercultural communication skills through academic coursework, local homestays, and community-service learning opportunities.  All course syllabi are available online and are aligned with the American Council on the Teaching Foreign Languages (ACTFL) proficiency guidelines as well as the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).

The language institute is part of the Universidad Isaac Newton located in Liberia, the capital city of the Guanacaste Providence. While maintaining a small-town profile, Liberia offers all of the conveniences of a big city including the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, medical centers, universities, and a variety of American and Central American dining options. A short drive from Liberia, you will find dozens of beautiful beaches, world-class surfing, rugged volcanic landscapes, and rich cultural traditions.
